  • How can I save without effort?

  • I would like help to increase my income. What options are there to increase my income? And (how) the Humentum Foundation advise me on this?

    Income-enhancing resources are ways to supplement your income, often with help from the government. Some examples of income-enhancing resources are:

  • I would like help applying for benefits. What surcharges are there? And (how) can the Humentum Foundation help me apply for benefits?

    Allowances fall under income-enhancing resources. With allowances you can therefore improve your income.

  • Which websites and apps help me stick to my budget and reduce my spending?

    You will find a lot of information about budgeting and reducing expenses on the following apps and websites.

  • I want to reduce or better manage my expenses. What tips does the Humentum Foundation have?

    Reducing expenses starts with making an overview of your income and expenses. You do this by creating a monthly and annual overview.

  • What does a healthy budget look like?

    A healthy budget (or spending pattern) means that your income and expenses are in balance. In addition, you manage to distinguish between what you want to buy (a new phone) and what you actually need (dinner). So you make conscious choices about what you spend your money on.

  • How do I avoid debt?

    Do you want an independent view of your income and expenses? Or do you want to know how you can save or economize?

  • I have no debts, but my financial situation has changed recently. As a result, I hardly get by on my income and I am afraid that I will end up in debt. (How) can the Humentum Foundation help me?

    Look after! Your finances may be out of control. Therefore, you urgently need insight into your income and expenditure pattern. This makes it easier for you to adapt to the new situation.

  • I have debts and may need debt counseling or debt restructuring. What does this mean?

    Debt counseling proceeds through a number of phases. Your situation will be examined before the start of the debt counseling or debt restructuring process.

  • I need financial help NOW. What should I do?

  • The energy company and/or drinking water company wants to disconnect me from electricity, gas and/or water. What should I do?

    Your debts are getting out of hand. Urgent action is needed. The Humentum Foundation can give you tips on the steps you should take immediately. A Budget coach from the Humentum Foundation supports you in taking these steps.

  • The housing corporation or landlord wants to evict me from the house. What should I do?

    Your debts are getting out of hand. Urgent action is needed. The Humentum Foundation can give you tips on the steps you should take immediately. A Budget coach from the Humentum Foundation supports you in taking these steps.

  • I have problematic debts (debts that cause major financial problems that prevent me from paying my basic needs, such as groceries, rent, water/gas/electricity or health insurance) and urgently need help. (How) can the Humentum Foundation help me?

  • I have (non-problematic) debts and would like help with paying off. (How) can the Humentum Foundation help me?

    Overview of and insight into income, expenses and debts. That is the most important thing when it comes to financial issues. A good overview prevents debts from becoming problematic.

  • I have little or no insight into my income and expenses. Can the Humentum Foundation help me?

    Sometimes you don't know how much money comes in every month and what you spend exactly. The overview is lost.

  • I've had my mail unopened for a while. (How) can the Humentum Foundation help me?

    If you help financial problems, every (financial related) letter can be overwhelming. The Budget coaches of the Humentum Foundation support you in this. Together with you we will open this post and create an overview. The responsibility lies with you, but the necessary support from the Humentum Foundation makes it easier. We also make a plan for the future.

  • What is Debt Counseling? Are there different types of debt counseling? And does the Humentum Foundation offer debt counseling?

    Debt can be very problematic. Creditors send reminders, there is a bailiff at the door or you may be evicted. In that case, debt counseling or debt restructuring is a possible solution.

  • I want to become a volunteer and/or budget coach. How do I register?

    The Humentum Foundation mainly focuses on people with a non-Dutch cultural background. That is why we are looking for non-native speakers. Do you speak another language and do you want to become a volunteer? Send an email to info@humentum.nl and sign up.

  • I do not have a Dutch background. Which languages do the Budgetcoaches speak?

    The Budget Coaches of the Humentum Foundation speak the following languages:

  • I have an appointment with a Budgetcoach. How long does a process with a Budgetcoach take and how does this process proceed?

    The length of the process depends on the request for financial assistance. Sometimes people have been helped to put their finances in order. This can be done in one to five appointments. Others have debts or very little insight into their income and expenditure, and therefore need to be guided for a longer period of time. This can take months, sometimes years. In short, how long and intensively we work together depends on your current situation and what you want to achieve.

  • I have an appointment with a Budgetcoach. How do I prepare?

    It is important that you are open and honest about your financial situation and any debts. But also about the origin of the debts. In addition, you must be motivated to solve the problems. Resolving debt starts with a good overview of income, expenses and all debts. Therefore, bring an overview of this to the first meeting.

  • What do I have to do to get help from a Budget Coach?

  • What can I ask a Budget Coach? What does the Budgetcoach not do?

    You can ask a Budget Coach anything. There is no (financial) question that we think is too crazy.

  • When do I need a Budget Coach? What questions or problems can a Budgetcoach help me with?

    Do you have problems making ends meet, do you want to do something about your debts or do you just want information about (better) budgeting?
